Private Tour in The Jewish Quarter & Grand Master's Palace

Whilst the medieval city of Rhodes is internationally known as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, many are unaware of the Jewish Quarter that once thrived within its walls. This unique half-day tour will educate you on the captivating Jewish heritage of Rhodes Old Town, before transporting you back in time to its medieval beginnings.

You’ll begin with a stroll through La Juderia (the Jewish Quarter), meandering down the narrow, charismatic lanes. A knowledgeable local guide will bring the history of La Juderia and its people to life. During your walk, you’ll explore notable Jewish landmarks such as Alhadeff Park and Street, which were named after an important Jewish family.

You’ll also see the Square of the Martyred Jews, along with its seahorse fountain, and the Holocaust Memorial. Plus, you’ll visit the Kahal Kadosh Synagogue, which is the oldest in Greece, and the Jewish Museum of Rhodes.
Next, you’ll go further back in time, to the medieval period.

Your guide will explain how the battles and sieges fought by the Knights of St. John created the town that we see today. You can admire medieval monuments and stroll along the famous Street of the Knights. Incredibly, this is the best-preserved medieval street in Europe. The tour then ends at the 14th Century Palace of the Grand Master. This was once home to the leader of the Knights of St. John of Rhodes. It’s now a museum which houses medieval furniture, detailed mosaics and archaeological exhibitions from Rhodes.
